The Challenge
Uniting Agewell (UAW) had long been using an on premise solution for managing residents and clinical records. They decided to move to a new online web based version of the same application, yet were faced with a period of several years where they would have to run both systems concurrently as there were core functions that were not yet available in the web based version. The software provided attempted to build a synchronisation tool to keep their own two systems in sync, but being experts in their software rather than data itself, the tool failed to meet expectations and ended up causing a whole raft of data integrity issues. Not knowing where to turn, we are glad UAW turned to Cadence.
The Cadence Solution
Within just 3 months, we had developed a simple tool that runs every five minutes, comparing the data in both systems and identifying any changes from the source data. Next our tool pushes any changes up to the cloud so that the systems remain in sync anytime of day – unlike the overnight runs that are all too common in the industry, a delay you can’t afford when your clients are in-house. As a result, our sync tool has been implemented across 15 facilities and has been running seamlessly for over 5 months. UAW staff can reference and enter medical and clinical assessments live, without relying on the inefficient process of entering their notes at a later date. This has created significant efficiencies, less headaches and a level of trust that the systems are always accurate and up to date.
